Bellafill 5 Year Filler – To Rebuild Collagen
Immediate correction. Lasting improvement. Natural look.
Bellafill offers a new level of filler correction. In addition to immediately adding volume to the skin to lift acne scars, it helps your skin re-create its own firmer structure for a smoother appearance and lasting results.
What is Bellafill and How is it Unique
Bellafill is the only FDA approved filler to last 5 years. It has the largest and longest prospective dermal filler study ever conducted! Its designed to obtain a very natural apperance for those who would like to skip getting injections so frequently. As part of our ongoing commitment to finding personalized treatment options for every patient, MODLX Medspa offers Bellafil injections for patients suffering from deep smile lines or pitted acne scars. In many cases, these problems are caused by a deterioration of the collagen fibers beneath the skin.
Bellafill filler was created with the specific purpose of increasing collagen support within the skin in the short term, and helping to rebuild collagen structures in the long term – for long lasting effects. Although Bellafill acne scars treatments and smile line injections are the most common uses for this dermal filler, we also use this incredible filler on other parts of the face.
The idea behind Bellafill filler centers on rebuilding lost collagen in the skin. This is distinctly different from hyaluronic acid-based fillers, like Restylane and Juvederm, which rely on attracting moisture to the treatment site to build up volume. This focus on improving the supporting fiber network within the skin is what creates the long lasting effects with this dermal filler.
Who are good candidates for Bellafill?
The best candidates for Bellafill are experienced patients who have had good results with facial fillers in the past, and are looking for longer lasting results. Bellafill is a great alternative for those patients with “filler fatigue”. These are patients who love the results that they achieved with dermal fillers but are tired of visits every 9-18 months for injections that can be painful and may cause bruising. In addition, patients who are considered fast metabolizer may also be good candidates.
How Bellafill Works
Bellafill is designed to work in a two step process; to provide immediate volume as well as long term effects of collagen growth. The formulation of this filler consists of approximately 80% bovine collagen and 20% PMMA.
The immediate improvements are provided by the bovine collagen which adds volume to the treatment area and supports the skin above. However, this collagen only lasts a few months, and is then broken down by the body.
The long-lasting effects are provided by PMMA microspheres, which stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen in the treatment site, and create effects that last for several years.
What Bellafill Treats
Bellafill can be used on virtually any part of the face where the loss of collagen support networks has led to the development of skin creases and indentations. It is also commonly used to treat pitted acne scars, which do not typically respond to laser skin treatments or chemical peels, because these scars are too deep.
By providing support underneath the skin, the Bellafill acne scars treatment reduces the depth of indentations, thus reducing the appearance of scars and creating smoother skin texture.
Benefits of Bellafill
- Immediate correction and lasting improvement for pitted scars such as acne scars.
- PMMA helps replace lost collagen by working with your body’s natural processes.
- Over 90% of subjects were satisfied at 12 months (unblinded).
- Injection comfort with 0.3% lidocaine.
- Proven safety profile. An initial skin test for collagen or lidocaine allergy is required in the U.S. and is optional in Canada.
- A simple, in-office treatment with no downtime. You can immediately resume your normal daily activities.
How Long Does Bellafill Last?
Bellafill is one of the longest-lasting dermal fillers currently available on the market, and typically lasts anywhere between 3 to 5 years. You will see immediate volume correction and lifting of your acne scars secondary to the collagen. Over time, the collagen is reabsorbed while the PMMA microspheres are left behind. They create a supportive base that stimulates your own collagen. A subsequent touch up injection session at 4-8 weeks may be needed for full correction.
Dr. Elan Singer of MODLX Medspa regularly invests the time to train in best practices and updated techniques for Bellafill and other dermal fillers to help you achieve better and more predictable outcome.
What to Expect During Bellafill Treatment
When you schedule a treatment with Dr. Singer, he will first assess your skin and conduct a skin test 30 days prior to injection, in order to ensure that this filler is the best solution for you and can be administered safely. Once he determines that Bellafill is the right filler for you, he will estimate exactly how much should be used to achieve outcomes that look natural and balanced.
Typically, the Bellafill treatment will be completed in two stages.
- During the first appointment, Dr. Singer will inject approximately 75% of the total volume.
- A second appointment will be scheduled for 1-2 months thereafter to complete the procedure.
This is done to give the filler time to work, assess progress, and ensure that too much isn’t injected into the skin, as the ultimate goal is for the outcomes to look natural and refreshed as possible.
Does Bellafill Hurt?
Bellafill is formulated with lidocaine, which is a local anesthetic. This helps reduce any discomfort during the procedure. Dr. Singer may also use a topical anesthetic to increase comfort.
Bellafill Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What is Bellafill?
A: Bellafill is a smooth collagen-based dermal filler with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres, a biocompatible material that has been used in medical implants for 65 years. The collagen gel in Bellafill provides immediate volume and lift to correct the wrinkle/nasolabial fold and/or acne scar. The PMMA microspheres remain in place and create a base that provides structural support for the smoother-looking skin.
Q: Is Bellafill safe?
A: Bellafill has been proven safe through 5 years in the largest and longest prospective dermal filler study ever conducted. Thousands of people to date, have successfully used it.
The polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microsphere is a biocompatible material that has been safely used in medical implants and other devices for more than 65 years.
Skin testing for bovine collagen allergy is recommended before treatment with Bellafill. However, a negative skin test is not entirely predictive, and a bovine collagen hypersensitivity reaction may still occur. Bovine collagen allergy is quite unusual, and if it occurs, it is easily managed. It is also completely reversible.
Occurrence of granulomas may occur with Bellafill as it may occur with any other filler. Formation of a granuloma is a rare immunologic response. In a large study with over 1,000 patents the rate of granulomas formation in Bellafill is less than 1.7%.
Q: What’s the downtime with Bellafill?
A: You can return to normal activities right away. You may experience temporary swelling, redness, pain, bruising, lumps/bumps, itching, and discoloration at the treatment site. These side effects are usually transient and generally resolve within 1–7 days.
Q: Who can receive treatment with Bellafill?
A: Patients must be 21 years of age or older. In clinical studies, Bellafill was shown to work for all skin types, and in men and women. If you have a history of severe allergies, have known bovine collagen allergies, are allergic to lidocaine, have bleeding disorders, or are prone to thick scar formation and/or excessive scarring, you should not receive it.
Q: Will Bellafill work for me?
A: In a clinical trial, it was shown to work equally well with all skin types, and in men and women. Patients who have had a positive reaction to the Bellafill Skin Test, have a history of severe allergies, have known bovine collagen allergies, are allergic to lidocaine, have bleeding disorders or are prone to thick scar formation and/or excessive scarring should not receive it.
Q. How many treatments do I need?
A: Most people see the results they want with one or two treatments, depending on the depth of their wrinkles and folds. When you have your follow-up appointment in four to six weeks, you can decide if you would like to further enhance your results.
Q: How much does Bellafill cost?
A: The cost varies depending on how many syringes are required to obtain optimal correction. We can personalize a treatment plan that fits your time and budget during your consultation.
Q: How long does Bellafill last?
A: Satisfaction, effectiveness, and safety through the FDA for the correction of nasolabial folds have been established through 5 years. How does it compare to other fillers? Temporary dermal fillers are made of different kinds of natural or synthetic materials that are completely absorbed by the body over time and as a result, wrinkle correction usually lasts 6-12 months on average. The microsphere-enhanced collagen in Bellafill remains intact at the treatment site and provides structural support to keep your wrinkle from returning
