Micro-Needling with the MicroPen™ - MODLX Medspa Manhattan NYC
Micro Needling - Non-Surgical Rejuvenation - Safe for All Skin Types
Resurface Skin with Minimal Downtime (1-3 days)— Stimulate New Collagen Over 6 Weeks
The aesthetic skin experts at MODLX use a micro-needling device called the Eclipse Micropen Turbo Elite. The Micropen is effective, safe and well-tolerated, It's the fastest and most convenient medical-grade automated micro-needling device on the market for reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, sun damage, uneven skin tone, stretch marks and acne scarring. Due to the low risk of post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation, it is suitable for all skin types and color. Micro-needling produces results similar to what can be achieved following a fractional laser treatment, but with less redness and downtime.
How Does the MicroPen Micro-Needling Process Work?
Micro-needling with the Eclipse Micropen is an ideal procedure if you would like to boost collagen and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skintone, acne scarring and stretch marks.
The Micropen creates microscopic ‘pin prick’ wounds in the skin in order to stimulate your body’s natural healing process and boost collagen production and elastin. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture, called a micro injury, creates a channel that triggers a release of growth factors, a proliferation of cells (such as fibroblasts and keratinocytes) and induces production of new collagen and elastin fibres. This boost of collagen can increase your skin’s volume and help the skins texture to look and feel much smoother. Within weeks the skin becomes smoother with improved thickness and texture.
The Micropen procedure is also called micro-needling therapy, collagen induction therapy (CIT), skin needling and percutaneous collagen induction (PCI), all are minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedures that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles.
Combine Treatments with the MicroPen for Greater Results
Micro-needling enables us to correct skin tone, texture and restore a more youthful and healthy appearance for many of our patients. Depending on individual skin concerns, it may be recommended to combine microneedling with other modalities such as the VI Peel, PRP Injections, SilkPeel DermalInfusion, PRP Hair Growth Injections or PRP infusion, as well as a therapeutic skin care protocol containing high-dose retinol in order to optimize their treatment outcome.
Patients with aged skin, facial fat atrophy or deep dermal scarring can also benefit from micro-needling in combination with fat grafting. The two procedures work synergistically; the needling treatment improves skin quality and texture, while the adipose cell graft restores structural support, sub-dermal volume and facial contours.
What Happens During A Micro Needling Treatment
The procedure is performed under topical local anesthesia where the electrical micro-needling device (the Micropen) creates precise microscopic punctures, which close spontaneously within minutes, leaving the epidermis preserved and intact. As the wound healing response is initiated within an intact tissue architecture, there is improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. and a firmer, tighter skin.
After a Micropen skin needling treatment, your skin will look refreshed and rejuvenated, turning back the clock and helping you look and feel incredible.
A series of treatments may be required, this will be discussed during a complimentary skin assessment consultation. Some patients only require a single treatment, once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6 week intervals.
Recovery & Side Effects of Micro Needling Treatments
Micro-Needling is effective in rejuvenating aged and sun-damaged skin, with the forehead, cheeks, nose, periorbit, perioral and décolletage areas responding particularly well. It is also indicated for improving acne scars, atrophic scars, post-traumatic scars and stretch marks.
Immediately after the treatment, you will notice a brightness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the depth of needles used and the number of overlapping passes our aesthetic experts utilizes. On average, patients are red for 2-4 days, though some patients heal completely in 24 hours. Patients will notice an immediate glow to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks.
Micro-Needling for Hair Loss
Micro-Needling has been found to stimulate hair growth and can be used to treat thinning hair, hair loss, hardening of the scalp and weak hair. PRP helps nourish and repair your hair follicles, allowing for normal, healthy hair growth. It also stimulates hair follicle generation and encourages new hairs to grow.
For hair loss treatments, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is injected into scalp before micropenning the area. PRP Hair Growth Injections are administered directly into the scalp by our Medical Director, Elan B. Singer, MD, FACS.
